Artist Notes:
"I brush layers of transparent oil glaze over fossilized floral impressions, creating richly colored grounds
animated by natural repetitive patterns. These backgrounds are complete abstract paintings in and of
themselves. Upon these botanical tapestry’s, I may paint the diverse architecture of the orchid-an enduring
icon of evolution, and an ever fascinating object. My paintings are an implication of the supporting layers and
systems below the surface just outside my field of vision. As did the old Masters, I use light vibrating through
60-70 layers of glazed color to animate and illuminate the painted surface from within. I am motivated by
creating compositions with rhythmic dances of intense color, texture and light."
